PROJECT SUMMARY

MOBIKASA has developed a Node.js-based sales/warehouse management tool and integrated it with an existing CRM. The solution captures and displays data across multiple sales and production channels.

The Client

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of Neha Mehta Couture, an Indian ethnic wear retailer that sells custom-tailored gowns, saris, and more. Since starting our business 5–6 years ago, we’ve expanded into two brick-and-mortar stores with a production warehouse and have gradually started to sell our products through various ecommerce platforms.

The Challenge

What challenge were you trying to address with MOBIKASA?
As our business grew, it became increasingly difficult to manage our operations across our two locations, warehouse, and online channels. The primary challenge was finding a way to keep track of our online orders and then matching those sales with our internal CRM. Without this, it was difficult to take payments or give refunds. MOBIKASA joined the project to create a payment solution that could capture all of our sales and production information in one location and integrate with our existing CRM.

The Approach

What was the scope of their involvement?
MOBIKASA developed a web-based payment solution that would help us better manage our sales and warehouse data across various channels. Because we don’t have an in-depth tech background, they initially allocated a business analyst who helped us understand our problems and reframe them into a project scope. Together, we came up with a list of features, which would become a wireframe, a design, and finally a functional system. Their team built the solution using Node.js to capture a lot of information throughout the production pipeline. For example, if a customer wants to buy a custom piece of clothing for a wedding, one of our staff would log the order for our warehouse team to fulfill. All of the production/payment information would then be tracked in the system, which we could access through an admin console. MOBIKASA has finished the app and is currently working on designing our company website.
What was the team composition?
We typically work with two main points of contact: the business analyst helps us work through any new ideas or challenges, and the project manager oversees day-to-day development. Beyond that, there are about four developers working in the background.
How did you come to work with MOBIKASA?
It was important for us to work with a local developer because we wanted to be able to visit their offices or have them work at ours. After discovering MOBIKASA, we were impressed with how they presented their portfolio and their clientele list. We also appreciated how invested their business analyst was. They weren’t trying to sell us on their services; instead, they wanted to understand our problems and focused on how they could solve them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about 4.5 million Indian rupees (approximately $65,000 USD) so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
Their work started in January 2019 and is ongoing. We’re now working on our company site.

The Outcome

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The new payment/warehouse management system has completely streamlined our internal processes. We used to suffer from communication gaps between the sales staff and the production team. The people who took orders would understand requirements one way, whereas the people tailoring the pieces would understand them another way. As a result, a lot of orders would be rejected, and we’d have to give refunds. Now, the system tracks everything. It’s been going well for the past month or so, and the process is much easier for our staff to follow.
How did MOBIKASA perform from a project management standpoint?
We have regular Skype calls and can also visit their office, which is great. The project manager always keeps us up to date. If there is ever a delay, it’s usually because we’re behind on giving them our content.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Compared to previous developers we’ve worked with, MOBIKASA’s development quality is really amazing. I like that they’ve assigned a business analyst to our project. Although I was hesitant at first, they ended up playing an important role in helping us make key decisions, from identifying our goals to looking at the functionality and business logic.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, we’re pretty satisfied with their work.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Leave things up to them rather than trying to control everything. MOBIKASA will likely know their field better than you do, so let them concentrate on their work.
