MOBIKASA helped a gifting portal optimize their Shopify store through a major redevelopment, implementing an inventory tracking system and many more functionalities.

Please describe your company and your position there.
MangoPeopleShop is an online gifting platform with carefully curated products from around the world, catering to the younger generation of students, young professionals and millennials who are looking for unconventional festive and personal gifting options. The company also caters exclusively to corporates for quirky gifting products and services. Founded in 2014, the vision of the brand is to make the world a happier place to live with it's fun and magical products inspired by cartoon characters, pop-culture, social media trends, selfcare motivation and fantasy creatures which are brought to you by women for women majorly. I am serving as the CEO and Cofounder of the company and would like to take this conversation further with the review for Mobikasa.

The Challenge

For what projects/services did your company hire MOBIKASA?
As we are aiming to become India's top gifting portals, there are a lot of areas which needed improvements to scale-up our business and reach to the right audience at the right time. Starting with the website layout and mobile responsiveness of the portal, customer satisfaction was almost negligible as most of the traffic was on mobile but the navigation and look and feel of the portal was poor. Controlling inventory was also a challenge as the incoming inventory from different parts of the world needed systematic entry via well-quipped softwares. After trying different methods of marketing, the conversion rates were still low and the budget was disturbed due to low sales. If we were going to grow our business and hit our expected revenue targets, then the whole thing had to be redeveloped.
What were your goals for this project?
We had been working on Shopify but with better understanding of the portal with the Shopify Experts from Mobikasa, we could make use of analytics, reports and suitable apps from the store which could help us in smooth operations and better control on inventory management, customer feedback and product discovery on the website. With more than 85% of users on mobile, app development and mobile responsiveness had to be re-developed not just for better navigation but with improved IVR calling system integration, fraud detection and order confirmation could also help in reducing sales returns. Digital marketing using Facebook Ads, Google Ads, PPC, SEO content integration for better rankings, social media marketing, public relations with media and influencers and POS system generation for events for consumer behavioural analysis had been planned to work on to improve traffic, conversions, brand loyalty, trust and customer retention.

The Approach

How did you select this vendor?
The company was discovered by our team on the Shopify Experts portal and also recommended by few of our colleagues who met the Mobikasa team at a local business conference where the conversation was initiated. After setting up discussions with more than 3 other companies, Mobikasa turned out to be the perfect choice for our brand as they could understand our vision and relate to our revenue model better because of their expertise in this industry and extensive knowledge and experience of working on similar projects in recent times. Time and budget were also major factors of the consideration as other companies came up with lead time which was not suitable for the current stage of our company. Case studies presented by Mobikasa seemed promising and the friendly-nature of the team members was impressive. The co-founder of MangoPeopleShop Mr. Harsh Vardhan Gupta along with our business consultant/ mentor and I, decided to get on-board with Mobikasa for the first phase of changes which gradually led to the final stages in a span of 1.5 years.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
Mobikasa divided the project in three phases during which the entire designing, approvals, re-development, system configuration, intregration and launch had been planned. The look and feel of the old website was revamped keeping the brand personality intact and introducing new features and navigation styles that enhanced the user-experience. The project began with their team along with MangoPeopleShop's design team on brainstorming ideas and suggestions that could work for the desktop and mobile version of the website and then execution was taken further. The functional versions were ready for user testing and feedback every two weeks. Improvements were made during each sorting thanks to key suggestions from their developers. Once the website was delivered successfully, the team started working on the iOS and Android App development which was done in the second phase of the project. For product procurement and inventory management, new features from third-party app were introduced to keep the data in sync and to automate the systems which helped us in smooth operations of order dispatch. To increase the reach of the target audience, the marketing and SEO team from Mobikasa worked on Facebook Ads, Google Ads, keywords, SEO content integration on the website and analytics which further enabled us to strategise our marketing campaigns and increase direct traffic, better rankings and overall revenue of the business. For enhancing customer satisfaction, IVR calling systems and COD confirmation were then integrated after the final re-development of the website. Other features like email newsletters, media pages, wholesale/corporate application forms, customer reviews, interactive games were also introduced by their team. Their consultancy services for product research and planning has resulted in knowing the customers better and tactical planning of procurement of goods from our vendors at better rates and as per the demand of the customers. For offline events and trade fares, their product development team has developed a POS system for brand awareness and interactive activities for consumer behavioural analysis and to make a mark for the brand locally. This has also enabled us to get live customer feedback and generating leads from corporate or big organisations because of the professional setting of the display.
What was the team composition?
The team dedicated to our project had about 15 people with a dedicated manager from the beginning of the project who was the main point of contact for all activities. We were well connected with all the departments throughout the project as and when needed. During the project, one of the members from the website development team had to leave for a while which came as a shock to us but what mattered the most was that they was another manager who was assigned proactively who was handed over the details after which she took charge from day one and we were notified about this prior to avoid any delays. That was really appreciated. The team was approachable at all times and have been supportive enough for our business ideas and any changes that were required during the project. Divya, Renuka, Raj, Vikas and Mohtashim have been extremely helpful for all different areas of the project like website, app, SEO and marketing respectively.

The Outcome

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
As expected from the team, the project delivery was done well within time and we launched the website and app earlier than expected. Our major goal was to enhance the user interface and experience on our web portal and increase our search rankings which was achieved successfully. The brand personality, visual appearance and brand voice came out well through various strategies and applications on the web portal, marketing ad campaigns and SEO content which has resulted a growth of 170% of website traffic and conversation rates by 1%. Systematic warehouse management by introducing stock inventory softwares has resulted in reduction of human errors by 7% and thereby, reducing customer complaints and returns. The investors, board of directors and our team have been praising the work done by them and we have renewed the agreement and have on-boarded Mobikasa as a long-time partner for their services because of how well they performed. The team members from MangoPeopleShop can now better focus on marketing strategies with data-driven results and have extra time to focus on product procurement rather than depending on extensive research with low chances of results.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
We have been working with other developers and agency but never saw such great enthusiasm and professionalism which this team has always shown throughout the project. The project was handled with good care and with proper analytics which was very impressive. Regular brainstorming, suggestions and feedbacks were provided by their team to ensure quality results along with focusing on project completion. Their team regularly complied with deadlines and always communicated delays well ahead of time. There was no critical delay or spillage during the project. We communicated exclusively with Skype, Whatsapp, Phone Calls and meetings.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The best part about the team is their open-to-feedback approach for all projects. We were also well-connected with the top management of the team whenever it was necessary. They have been extremely helpful for mentorship and guidance for any value added services that they could provide. Mentors from their team also helped in scaling up our business globally which was highly appreciated. Project delivery was quick and came out to be exactly as we wanted.
Are there any areas for improvement?
There is very less to talk about if asked about the areas of improvement. My one and only suggestion would be to improve the ways of communication by a few team members and provide a little more flexibility for new features that could have been introduced during the project.
